Hazel Hoover dies in Davenport.
The announcement of the death of Miss Hazel Hoover, was received with sadness, especially at the home of Warden and Mrs. Schipper, where she had been a faithful employee for over 3 years, and had a host of young friends. Her death was a shock to the community for on Tuesday Mrs. Schipper had a letter from her stating she was recovering rapidly and wished Mrs. Schipper to come to Davenport and she would accompany her home to resume her position. Saturday eve a message came saying she was very low. Another received Sunday a.m. stated she had passed away. Hazel had gone to a hospital in Iowa City early in the fall to seek recover from Diabetes and three weeks ago she went to the home of her mother, Mrs. Reeter in Davenport, where she passed away Sunday a.m. Feb. 8. Hazel Hoover was born June 18, 1897 and grew to young woman hood in this vicinity, a member of the M. E. church, an ardent church worker, leading a devout Christian life. Hazel’s brief sojourn here was one filled with cheer and sympathetic kindness, beloved by all who knew her. She has left a blessing with all her many friends. Her faith has won the victory. Surviving to mourn are her mother, brother George and uncles, Sam and Eli Hoover of Andrew. Funeral services will be held at Davenport Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Interment in Oakdale cemetery.
