George O. Hoffman, a life resident of Davenport, died Tuesday evening at 10:30 o'clock at Mercy Hospital after a two weeks illness. He made his home at 2324 Boise Ave, and was employed for many years as a stonecutter at the Schricker Marble Co.
Mr. Hoffman was born August 11, 1867, at Davenport and received his education in the public schools here. He was married December 15, 1888 to Miss Wilhelmina Hansen at Davenport. She preceded him in death in March 1919, and on April 19, 1922, Mr. Hoffman was married a second time to Margaret Meyes at Davenport.
He was a member of East Davenport Turner's Society. He retired from his employment at Schricker's about 10 years ago.
Survivors besides his widow are four daughters, Mrs. H.P. Nelson, Mrs. T.M. Mielke, Mrs. C.E. Brieline, and Mrs. E.N. Griswold, all of Davenport, one son, George Hoffman Jr, also of this city; two sisters, Mrs. John Meyer of Scott Co. and Mrs. Harry Jansen of Davenport; one brother, Arthur Hoffman, also of Davenport, one half-brother, J. C. Schricker and a half sister, Mrs. Henrietta Hart, both of Davenport and 2 grandchildren.
The body was taken to Runge Mortuary where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
