The Davenport Democrat and Leader, July 20, 1940:

Mrs. Lena Reimers, 56, a life resident of Scott county, died in her home five miles northwest of Durant at 2:45 p.m. Saturday following a short illness.

She was born Nov. 2, 1883, in Donahue, and was educated in rural schools of the community. On Jan. 8, 1908 she was married to Henry Reimers in Davenport. The couple engaged in farming near Donahue for many years before moving to their present home three years ago.

She was a member of the Ladies auxiliary to the Farmers' Union of Donahue.

Surviving are the husband; three sons, George, Davenport; Albert, Moline, and August, at home; two daughters, Mrs. John Groenwald, Davenport, and Mrs. Ralph Eaton, Moline; six brothers, August and William Hoffmann, both of Renwick , Ia., Henry and Charles Hoffman, both of Donahue, Albert Hoffmann, Maysville, Ia., and Claus Hoffmann, Mt. Joy, Ia., and eight grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Runge mortuary where it will remain until 9 a.m. Tuesday when it will be removed to the Durant chapel for funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Durant cemetery.
