Hugo Brockmann, Retired Farmer, Dies at Age 72

Hugo Brockmann (above), 72, a retired Scott county farmer, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday in his home, 404 West Garfield street. He had been ailing since last fall.

Born June 27, 1867, in Butler township, Scott county, he received his education in the rural schools, and was married to Emma Koch Jan. 28, 1892. The couple resided on a farm near McCausland, Ia., until 1916, when they retired and moved to Eldridge. They came to Davenport four years later.

Mr. Brockmann formerly was president of the McCausland Savings Bank.

Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Zabel and Mrs. Roland Baustian, both of Eldridge, and Mrs. George Sticher, Princeton, Ia.; a brother Carl Brockmann, Davenport; a sister, Mrs. Herman Holst, Eldridge; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Runge chapel, followed by burial in Pine Hill cemetery.
