Roes

Mrs. Olga Roes, wife of William Roes, passed away at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening at the family home, 1932 West Sixteenth street, following a year’s illness. Altho ailing, Mrs. Roes was up and around yesterday and visited neighbors. She was suddenly taken seriously sick late in the day and died during early evening.

The deceased was born in Davenport, Dec. 23, 1887, and had lived here all her life. Her maiden name was Olga Sauerberg.

She was united in marriage with William Roes on June 17, 1907, the late Monsignor Anton Niermann officiating. She was for many years a faithful member of St. Joseph’s church.

Surviving are the husband and two sons, William and Raymond. There also survive the parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hans Sauerberg and five sisters as follows: Mrs. Paul Reimer of Oakland, Cal., Mrs. Hugo Rohwedder of Iowa City, Mrs. Charles Moore of Hampton, Ill., Mrs. John Martens and Mrs. Marie Golderman of Davenport.

The body was taken to the Fred N. Ruhl mortuary and tonight will be returned to the family home. The funeral will be held from here at 8:30 o’clock Saturday morning, with services at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church. Interment will take place in Holy Family cemetery.

Roes Funeral

The funeral of Mrs. Olga Roes was held Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock from the late home, 1932 West Sixteenth street, to St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock. Rev. Anthony Schoeningh celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, and preached the funeral sermon. He also officiated at the interment in Holy Family cemetery.

The pallbearers were Edward Cartersen, John Fryauf, Henry Habink, Bernard Brus, Bernard Roes and Hugh McGee.
