Dawson

George Edward Dawson, 2107 Washington street, passed away at his home Wednesday evening at 7:15 o’clock. His death terminated a lingering illness.

The deceased was born January 19, 1872 at Wilton, Ia., and received his education there. On August 20, 1896 he was united in marriage to Miss Edith Duncan of Wilton at Muscatine. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Pulski No. 107, the Modern Woodmen, The U. C. T. of Muscatine, and the Scott Zedokah Lodge of Rebeccas at Davenport, No. 2. He lived in Wilton the greater part of his life, coming to Davenport in September 1924.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Lisle L. and Bruce R., both at home, his mother, Mrs. Sarah Jane Dawson, one sister, Mrs. J. H. Rouse, and two brothers, John F., and Roy Dawson, all of Davenport.

The funeral will be held from the home Friday morning at ten o’clock after which the body will be taken to Wilton, where services will be held at 1:30 o’clock that afternoon in the Oakdale cemetery in Wilton. The Odd Fellows and Rebeccas are asked to attend the services at ten o’clock Friday morning.

Wilton Services for G. W. [sic] Dawson

Wilton, Ia., Jan. 17. - Funeral services were held in the Wilton Presbyterian church at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon for George E. Dawson who died in Davenport. Rev. H. A. Kossack officiated and the Pulaski lodge, No. 107, Odd Fellows, had charge at the grave in Oakdale cemetery. The pallbearers were M. J. McDermott, Andrew Overson, Sidney Bullington, . E. Boot, George Whitner and James Chamberlain.

Dawson Funeral

Funeral services for George E. Dawson were held Friday morning from the late home, 2107 Washington street. The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs conducted the service, with Mrs. E. J. Brennan, noble grand, Mrs. E. Johannsen, vice noble grand, and Mrs. Charlotte Wood, chaplain in charge for the Rebekahs and W. F. Hunt, noble grand, and E. Ohland, chaplain, in charge of the Odd Fellows. Miss Anna Grivel sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”

Following the services the body was taken to Wilton, Ia., where services were held at two o’clock at the Presbyterian church, with Rev. Kossack officiating. Pulaski lodge of the Odd Fellows conducted the services at the grave in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton.

The pallbearers in Davenport were Charles Jewel, D. D. Mumford, David Spahr, W. F. Hunt, John Goetsch, and E. Ohland. At Wilton they were M. J. McDermott, Engel Boot, Carl Jensen, Sidney Bullington, Andrew Overson, and George Whitmer.
