Mrs. Klaus Dies 6 Weeks After Her Husband

Was One of the Oldest Members of St. Joseph’s Church

Six weeks after the death of her husband, Ludwig Klaus, Mrs. Katherine Klaus succumbed to an illness of two weeks at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Martin, 2106 East Twelfth street, Tuesday night at 8 o’clock. She was one of the oldest members of St. Joseph’s church.

She was born in Silverhousen, Bavestate, Germany, March 1, 1840, and received her early education in the old country. After her marriage to Ludwig Klaus in 1865, she came with him to Davenport.

Mrs. Klaus was a woman of strong religious character, and held membership in the Christian Mothers of St. Joseph’s church.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Joseph Zinger, Mrs. Henry Dietrich, Mrs. Edward Freund, Mrs. Joseph Martin and Joseph Klaus of Davenport, and John Klaus of Bettendorf; 18 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother living in Germany.

The funeral will be held Friday morning at 8:30 from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Martin, 2106 East Twelfth street, with services at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church. Interment will be in St. Marguerite’s cemetery.
