Second Death Due Infection Within 3 Days

Four-Year-Old Betty Jacobs Succumbs to Sudden Blood Poisoning

The second fatality within three days coming from an infection and causing a kind of blood poisoning, known to physicians as general septicemia, occurred Wednesday evening at 6:15 o’clock, when Betty Bertha Jacobs, four-year-old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Harry Jacobs, died at her home. The Jacobs live at 1920 Washington street.

The first death was that of Mrs. Frances Schneider who Friday developed an infection of the lip and died three days later on Monday. The little girl’s infection started in the throat.
According to physicians, the poisoning is not fatal if the general health of the patient is good.

Surviving Betty beside her parents are one sister Margaretha, one brother Albert, and a grandfather Claus Jacobs. She was a child of endearing ways and was loved by all who knew her. Friends of the family are deeply grieved.

On account of illness at the home private funeral services were held this afternoon and interment was made in Fairmount cemetery. The Rev. Byrd Ray officiated.
