Mrs. Mary Cook Passes; Lived Here 72 Years

Had Attended Calvary Baptist Church from Early Childhood

Mrs. Mary Cook, 74, for over 72 years a resident of Davenport, died this morning at 7:45 o’clock at her home, 326 East Fifteenth street. She had been ill for the past year.

Mrs. Cook was one of the oldest living members of the Calvary Baptist church of Davenport, her affiliation covering a period of 69 years. She started to attend Sunday school at the age of 5 years and became a member of the church when it was located in the old stone building on the site now occupied by the old Postoffice [sic]. Ever, she was an active and loyal supporter of the work of her faith, surrendering reluctantly to the illness which confined her.

She was born at Liverpool, Ohio, June 22, 1852. Her husband, Clarence Cook, preceded her in death a number of years ago. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Helen Wiley of Davenport, and one grandson, William Seth Warner of Muskogee, Okla.

Funeral services, at which friends will be welcome, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Calvary Baptist church and will be in charge of the Rev. F. G. Codd. Interment at Oakdale will be private.
