OBITUARY
SPEER, William. Died yesterday morning at 5:30 o'clock at his home, five miles west of Princeton, aged 72 years.
Mr. Speer was born in Butler county, Pa., Jan. 8, 1833, and moved to Scott county with his parents in 1840 and has made his home in LeClaire and Princeton ever since, where he was engaged in farming. He was married in 1861 to Amanda McKenry of Scott county, who survives her husband. Of this marriage six children survive, Mrs. S.A. Welson of LeClaire, Mrs. J.B. Porter of Princeton, Mrs. John Bammer of Pierson, Ia., and Miss Jennie at home. The sons are W.J. and J.E. Speer of Princeton. Three brothers and two sisters also survive, the brothers being Robert and Andrew Speer of Tama county and James of Pocahontas, and the sisters are Mrs. Mary Miller of Clinton, Ia., and Mrs. Eliza White of Harlan, Ia.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock at Mt. Union church, Butler township, the Rev. W.H. Davis of the United Presbyterian church of LeClaire Prairie officiating.
