OBITUARY

HOFFMANN, Henry, died last night at 10 o'clock at his residence, No. 1904 West Fourth street, aged 71 years, 6 months.

Henry Hoffmann was born March 20, 1833, in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and came to America in the fall of 1853, coming straight to Davenport. In October, 1856, he was married to Miss Mary Broacher, of this city, who survives him. He enlisted in the Union army in 1861, as corporal under Capt. August Simms, Company G, 16th regiment of Iowa infantry, and served through out the civil war receiving his honorable discharge May 26, 1865. Besides his wife there survive him six sons, Henry, Frank, George, John Lewis and Andrew, and two daughters, Mrs. Louis Salzmann and Mrs. Walter Snyder and eighteen grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the residence and the interment will take place in Fairmount cemetery. It is the request of the family that no flowers be sent.
