3 March 2000ODEBOLT, Iowa — Victoria "Dora" H. Olberding, 96, of Odebolt died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. Allan Reicks officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Mrs. Olberding was born April 23, 1903, in Mount Carmel, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Wilhemina (Kies) Nees. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
She married Frank Olberding on Nov. 28, 1923, in Mount Carmel. In 1938, they moved from Arcadia, Iowa, to a farm near Odebolt. He died Sept. 25, 1955. She continued to live on the farm until moving into Odebolt in 1958.
She was a homemaker and employed at Odebolt Bakery.
She belonged to St. Martin's Catholic Church and Parish Ladies Society. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, playing cards and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Norman of Odebolt and Vernon and his wife, Sandy of Spencer, Iowa; four daughters, Mardelle Ploeger of Sioux Center, Iowa, Elaine and her husband, Joseph Kennedy of Storm Lake, Iowa, Marilyn and her husband, Robert Thompson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Sharon Truex of Hayward, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Henkenius of Massena, Iowa, Sister M. Eloise of LaCrosse, Wis., Mary Daniel of Carroll, Iowa, and Leona Donaldson of New Hope, Minn.; a brother, Leon Nees of Tongonoxia, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; three sisters, Margaret Mosman, Emma Freese and Julia Rettenmaier; and five brothers, Carl, Rudolph, William, George and Frank Nees.
Pallbearers will be Frank Thompson, Randy Kennedy, Marlin Dibbet, Deb Lewis, Kristi Sinn and Elsa Thompson.
