ArmstrongFuneral Services were held Monday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Armstrong.
Marvin Delbert Hibben, the son of John and Maggie (Meyer) Hibben, was born October 25, 1928, in rural Breda, Iowa. He went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, November 3, 2011 after a brief illness, at the age of 83.
He grew up in rural Sac County and graduated from Sac City High School. On June 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Janeth McLaughlin at the United Methodist Church in Stanhope, Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State University the couple lived in Clarinda and Early, Iowa, where Marvin taught Voc. Ag. In 1955, the family moved to Armstrong where Marvin taught Voc. Ag. and high school science until he retired in 1990. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Marvin had a deep faith and was very active in the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, where he was involved in numerous church activities. Marvin belonged to Kiwanis and served as Iowa/Nebraska Governor. He was a founding member of the Armstrong Heritage Museum and Peterson Point Heritage Farm.
Left to cherish Marvin's memory are one son, Scott Hibben and his wife, Bess of Altoona, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Josh (Jen), Nate (Chelsea) and their son, Mac and daughter Grace, Gabe, and Carissa (fiance, T.J. Dopheide) and family and friends.
Preceding Marvin in death were his wife, Jan in 2009; daughter, Sherry Sabolchick and her husband, Steve; son, Mick; his parents and brother.
