LAKE VIEW -- Funeral servces for John Leo Tarpy, 64, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Potter gave the funeral sermon. Mr. Tarpy died Sunday morning at Denver where he and Mrs. Tarpy had been visiting their daughter and family. He was born to Thomas and Flora White Tarpy at Denison, Nov. 24, 1894. He was married to Elizabeth Gottsch Sept. 15, 1920. One daughter Audrey (Mrs. Melvin Stark) of Denver was born to them. Mr. Tarpy was preceded in death by his father, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, daughter Audrey, three grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Flora Tarpy of Manilla, two sisters, Marion (Mrs. Melvin Jans) of Sac City and Hazel (Mrs. Herb Bandow) of Manilla. Mr. Tarpy was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Masonic services were held at the church and military services at the graveside. E.L. Christian was soloist. Mrs. W.K. Hunter presided at the organ. Pallbearers were : Karl Staab, LeRoy Schafer, Don Tischer, Charles Raine, C.C. Lillie and Russell Mason. The Farber & Otteman Funeral Home were in charge of burial in the Ferguson cemetery.
