25 July 1998ODEBOLT, Iowa — Charles Luther "Chuck" Porter, 62, of Odebolt died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, Iowa with the Rev. Robert Lundberg officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery, rural Arthur.
Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Mr. Porter was born March 2, 1936, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Paul and Alice Louise (Schreck) Porter. He went to school in Iowa Falls, Iowa and then attended Ellsworth Junior College. He married Sally Frank Nov. 17, 1957, in Alden, Iowa. He was employed as a parts man for International Harvester for 26 years and for Case-IH for two years.
He was a member of Evangelical Free Church where he had served as Sunday school treasurer, trustee, and camp representative.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Michael Porter and Michelle of Ida Grove, Iowa, and James Porter and Stephanie of Arthur; four daughters, Peggy and her husband, Bill Bahr, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Pam Porter of Odebolt, Mary and her husband, Ted Simpson, of Cedar Park, Texas, and Valerie Acenith and her fiance, Michael Bechtold, of Plymouth, Minn. and two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Bahr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Pamela Sue Bahr; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law
