Mrs. Abbie deNeui Feldhans passed away at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly on Friday, July 17. Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. John's United Church of Christ, Ackley, with the Rev. John Heinbuch officiating. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
Abbie de Neui was born in Ackley July 6, 1891, to John and Rena de Neui. She was graduated from Ackley High School in 1908. Following graduation she taught in rural schools near Austinville, Aplington and Sumner. Later she attended State Teachers College at Cedar Falls after which she taught in Shelby until her marriage to Joseph Feldhans July 12, 1928. They made their home in Odebolt, where she and her husband managed a movie theatre, and she also did substitute teaching. Later the Feldhans' moved to Schaller, where they also managed a theatre, and Mrs. Feldhans gave music lessons and served as organist for the Presbyterian Church for several years. Mr. Feldhans died on July 31, 1952. Later she moved to Ackley to live with her mother, and in September, 1956, went to Waverly to make her home with her brother, John. She lived in the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home from February, 1959 to August, 1962, when she was moved to the Lutheran Home in Waverly. As a child Mrs. Feldhans was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Surviving is her youngest sister, Minnie, (Mrs. Glen Bush) of Vero Beach, Florida, also a sister-in-law, Mrs. John deNeui of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother John and sister Gertrude (Mrs. Earl Dougherty).
