Jessie L. Simpson Funeral Services Are Held Monday

Funeral services for Jessie L. Simpson were held from the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home Monday afternoon with Rev. Virgil W. Neville, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. John Irwin while flowers were cared for by Mrs. Howard Crabb, Mrs. Marvin Wiley and Leonards.

Attendants were Hillman Reinhart, Maynard Reinhart, Walter Jensen, Lawrence Jensen, Dale Simpson and Dwight Simpson. The body was laid to rest in Early Union Cemetery, Early, Iowa.

Obituary

Jessie, daughter of Reese Drury and Sarah Ann Cline, was born on March 7, 1879 in Marshall County Iowa and passed away after a long illness, January 18, having reached the aged of 83 years, 10 months and 9 days.

She was married to Lewis J. Simpson, February 20, 1900 at her parents’ home in Early, Iowa. To this union were born five children: Chrystal, Leland D., Murland L., Millard L., and Johny R. Jessie and Lewis have spent most of their lives farming. In 1913 the family moved to New Hampton, Iowa. Later they lived near Greene, Iowa. In later years, they retired from the farm to their home in Sac City.

Preceding her in death were three children, Chrystal, Mrs. Ed Seeley, Murland, who died in infancy, and John R.

Those who remain to mourn her loss are her husband, Lewis; two sons, Leland of New Hampton and Willard of Sac City; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Jensen of Sac City, Mrs. Clara Steele of Walker, Minn., and Mrs. Ruby Reinhart of Odebolt, Iowa; a brother, Charles Drury of Bensen, Minn.; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lewis and Jessie observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1950 with almost all the family together. It was a very happy occasion indicating their happy life together.
