Funeral services for Eugene McGonigle, 60 of Masaryktown, Fla. were held at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt at 10:30 Tuesday morning, January 25. The Rev. Joseph Lemen of the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt officiated. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Jack Simpson and Mrs. Bernie Thayer.
Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery with Leo Miller, Keith Reinhart, Pete Renze, Kenneth Sorensen, Tillman McFarland and Clifford Albrecht the attendants.
Eugene McGonigle was born October 16, 1916 in Odebolt, Iowa and died January 18, 1977 at the Brooksville, Florida hospital following a short illness.
He worked in Odebolt as a carpenter and cabinet maker in his early adult life. He was a partner in the Café business and owner and operator of the Glass Tap prior to moving to Florida. There he worked for the State of Florida as a superintendent of maintenance at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Mr. McGonigle retired July 1, 1976 and moved from Tampa to Masaryktown, Florida. He was a member of Wheeler Masonic Lodge of Odebolt.
Survivors include his wife, Julie; two children from his first marriage, Patricia McGonigle Oldnettle of Belleville, Ill., and Ronald McGonigle of Santee, and their mother, Mrs. Louise Rabe of Odebolt; his son-in-law Lt. Eldon Oldnettle and daughter-in-law Gwen McGonigle; six grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. McGonigle of Odebolt; and two brothers, Fay and Donald, both of Odebolt.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert, in 1976.
