C. Roose Dead
The people of this town was shocked last Wednesday morning to learn that Charles Roose, during the night had passed to the world that awaits the entire human race.
His sickness was brief, dating only back ten days, when it was thought he was taken down with a mild attack of pneumonia. Dr. Speaker was called and did all that medical skill could do, but his advanced age being 74 years old next January, was against his recovery, and he passed away as above stated.
Mr. Roose was an early settler in this place, having come here in 1879, and was the first permanent settler in what is now the incorporated town of LakeView.
He followed the chosen avocation of his life, that of a blacksmith, up to his late fatal illness, and was regarded as an honest, industrious and skillful workman. No one questioned his honesty and integrity as a citizen and he died as he lived, honored and respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at his residence yesterday at 1 o'clock p. m., after which all that was mortal of Charles G. Roose was laid to rest in the Ferguson cemetery. A wife and seven children survive him to mourn the loss of a natural protector and the public at large sympathize with them in their great sorrow.
