MRS. CARL G. ROOSE
Funeral services of the late Mrs. Carl G. Roose, of Ollie, Montana, who was a former Lake View resident, were held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon, June 5, at 3 o'clock.
Christina Josephina Peterson was born in Sweden August 17, 1842, and died at Ollie, Montana, May 31, 1920. In 1862, she was united in marriage to Carl G. Roose. In 1868, they came to the United States and took up their residence in Denison, Iowa, where they lived for 11 years. From here in 1879, they moved to a farm, now the site of Lake View. This continued to be their home until the death of her husband in October, 1900. Since that time she has resided near her children until the last few years when her failing health necessitated the taking of her abode with her youngest son, Carl Roose, in Ollie, Montanan, where she spent the remaining years of her life.
At the age of 18 years she was united with the Baptist church and lived a faithful Christian life until the time of her death.
Grandma Roose was a great bible student, and a lover of all the finer things in life - flowers and good books being her greatest especial joys. She was of a very sympathetic nature, and rejoiced in others/ joys and suffered with those who were in trouble, always doing all in her power to relieve the distress of those who were within her reach until her own ill health made it necessary for others to care for her. She had many friends wherever she was, and during the last two years of her life when she suffered a great deal, there were many who did what they could to make her last days more bearable, and she has gone to a well-earned rest and to meet her Saviour, and those of her children who had gone before also the husband whose loss she never cease to feel.
She leaves eight children and 33 grandchildren to mourn her departure, besides numerous friends and relatives. The children are: John Roose, Sac City, Mrs. A.W. Nash, Story City, Mrs. G. E. Gustafson, LakeView, Iowa, Mrs. W.E. Johnson, of San Pedro, Calif., Dave Roose of Laurens, Iowa, Mrs. I.A. Morris of Ollie, Mont., Joe Roose, of Scranton, N.D., and Carl Roose, of Ollie, Montana.
A trio composed of Nellie Baker, Mrs. R.E. Barton and W.F. Brower sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee:
The pallbearers were Rasmus Nelson, Kimball Armstrong, Henry Sauers, John Westrom, E.O. Olsen and John Peterson. Burial was made in Ferguson's cemetery.
