10-25-1951 Sac Sun-Last Rites Held Thursday for Frank Ellis - Early: Last rites were held Thursday afternoon, Oct. 18, at 2:00 o’clock in the Early Presbyterian church for Frank R. Ellis, 72, who died Monday evening in the St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll following a week’s critical illness. Rev. Henry Marks was the officiating clergyman. A brief prayer service was held in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dwight Haradon, at 1:45 pm.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Rufus Mau and Miss Marlys Kowalke with Mrs. Roe Lashier at the organ. Leonards assisted by Mrs. Ray Stevens and Mrs. Cecil Engler, had charge of the many exquisite floral tributes. Ed Hinds, Bob Morgan, Franklin Simpson, Melvin Wright, Fred James, and Raymond Haradon were the attendants.
Frank R. Ellis, son of Asa and Fannie Kelley Ellis, was born in Douglas township, Sac county, July 2, 1979 and died October 15, 1951 in St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll following a brief cardiac condition at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 13 days.
With the exception of about 10 years in Minnesota, his entire life was spent in Sac county, in and around the Early community where he received his formal education and was engaged in farming. In 1902 he was married in Sac county to Grace Nicodemus, and to this union were born ten children, 8 of whom are living. He was a member of the Early Presbyterian church and as long as health would permit, a member of the Class for Christian Service.
Mr. Ellis will long be remembered for his great love for his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his loss will be keenly felt by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters: Bertha Thies, Des Moines; Opal, Mrs. Lloyd Haradon, Odebolt; Genevieve Tatman, Chicago, Illinois; Neva, Mrs. Merle Bechler, Sac City; Rachel, Mrs. Dwight Haradon, Early; and Edith, Mrs. Lyle Clinton, Arcadia; and two sons: Vurl of Sac City; and Percy of Ridgeway, Missouri; 29 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two brothers: Elva Ellis of Lytton; and Orville Ellis of Crofton, Ne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Myrna Marie, a son, Ivan R, 6 grandchildren, a brother, and a sister.
