Funeral services for Grace Belle Jarvis, age 88 were held at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City on Thursday, May 8, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev Fred J Marsh of the Christian Church officiating. She was a long-time resident of the Sac community and died suddenly at the Hansen Nursing Home of Monday, May 5. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Duane Olson accompanied by Mrs. John Irwin. Floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Willard Brown and Mrs. Walter Body.

Attendants were Cleo Kitt, William Clinton, Sam Rudd, Lester Tiefenthaler, Gerald Thies, and Cordis Bechler. Burial was in the Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City.

Mrs. Jarvis was born September 1, 1880 on a farm in Jasper County near Colfax, Iowa to Benjamin and Mary (Budd) Nicodemus. She came to the Sac community with her parents and a brother, Earnest at an early age. She was baptized in the Methodist Church at the age of twelve and became a member of the congregation. She was united in marriage to Frank R Ellis and their home was blessed with ten children, three boys and seven girls. Ivan, the eldest and Myrna preceded their Mother in death. Surviving are her children: Bertha (Mrs. William Theis) of Boone; Opal (Mrs. Lloyd Haradon) of Boca Raton, Florida; Genevieve (Mrs. John Topping) Woodbine; Neva (Mrs. Merle Bechler) of Iowa City; Rachel (Mrs. Dwight Haradon) Early; Edith (Mrs. Lyle Clinton) of Early; Vurl Ellis and Percy Ellis all of Sac City. She is also survived by thirty- four grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jarvis moved into Sac City from the farm in 1925 where she married Thomas Jarvis, Sr. For the past six years she has lived at the Hansen Nursing Home.
