Wilbur Burns INGRAM was born July 26, 1858, at Berwick, Warren county, Illinois, and died October 13, 1932, at Kansas City, Missouri, aged 74 years, two months and 17 days. He was the son of Andrew and Hester Ann (HADDIX) INGRAM.
At the age of eleven years he came with his parents and his older brother, A. O. INGRAM, to Mount Ayr, Iowa, and lived here for forty years, from 1869 to 1909. He moved to Dallas, South Dakota, later to Rapid City, South Dakota; Harrison, Arkansas; Enid, Oklahoma, and finally, in 1918, to Kansas Missouri, which was his home the remainder of his life, and where for twelve years he was associated with the Detmer Woolen [illegible] then residence in Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. INGRAM have been members of the Grand Avenue Temple Methodist church
Mr. INGRAM was married March 16, 1886, to May BEALL, daughter of Albert G. and Lois F. BEALL, pioneer residents of Mount Ayr. She died March 8, 1889, leaving one Andrew INGRAM, son, Andrew Alber INGRAM, who with his family, still lives in Mount Ayr.
Mr. INGRAM was married April 12, 1892, to Sophia E. GORANFLO, who, with their two sons, Lawrence G. of Enid. Okla., and Millard H. of Tulsa, Okla., survive him.
During Mr. INGRAM's forty-year residence in Mount Ayr, he had, from his early boyhood, been associated with his father, the late Andrew INGRAM, in the stock feeding and shipping business. In this capacity he early formed a very wide acquaintance all over Ringgold and adjoining counties. His intense energy and activity, his generous and lovable disposition, had made for him a very large circle of friends in this territory, There are but few of the pioneer residents of the county who were not his acquaintances and friends.
He leaves to mourn his death, as stated above, his widow, Mrs. Sophia INGRAM of Kansas City; his sons, Andrew A. of Mount Ayr, Laurence G. of Enid Okla.; and Millard H. of Tusla, Okla.; also his only brother, A. O. INGRAM, of Iowa City; three grandchildren - Mary Elizabeth, Jack and Millard Gay INGRAM, and other relatives and a wide circle of friends in all places where he had lived and especially in Ringgold county, which had for so long been his home.
The body was brought to Mount Ayr, being accompanied by Mrs. INGRAM and the sons, Lawrence G. of Enid Okla., and Millard H. of Tulsa, Okla., and the funeral was held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at the Rhoades Funeral Home, being conducted by Rev. E. S. MENOHER, pastor of the Methodist church. Other relatives who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A, O. INGRAM, Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. MOTT and daughter Mildred, of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Frank LESAN and Mrs. Margaret TOPP and son Billie of Des Moines. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
