Craig Allen Ford, youngest son born to Edward E. and Margaret E. (Sullivan) Ford, was born July 29, 1955 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, IA. Craig was welcomed home by his older brothers, Charles and Mike; and would later help welcome into the family his sister, Marcia.

Craig grew up with a love for sports and that continued throughout his life. Craig graduated from the Mount Ayr High School with the class of 1973. He went on and attended Iowa State University in Ames and always remained a Cyclone. Craig moved from Mount Ayr to Phoenix, AZ in 1983. In the late 1980’s, Craig moved to Las Vegas, NV and he lived there the remainder of his life. Craig was a tax preparer for Jackson Hewlett.

Craig was always connected to Iowa and especially his family. His trips back home included time with family and friends; and going to Knoxville to watch the sprint car races; for which he had a passion for. As time went on and Craig became an uncle, he loved and was attentive to his four nephews and one niece. He followed and encouraged Kyle, Kirk, Daniel and David in music and sports and for Kristyn, it was the special Olympics and bowling. Uncle Craig loved replaying sports with the boys; especially the I.S.U. Cyclone and Iowa Hawkeye games. In 2016, Craig spent six weeks in Iowa and many memories and pictures were taken that are now treasured memories for everyone.

Craig passed away on August 17, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents Charles and Sarah Sullivan and Thomas and Mary Ford.

Those who will continue to cherish his memory include his mother, Margaret Ford, of Mount Ayr; brothers Charles Ford of Mount Ayr and Michael (Nancy) Ford of Tingley and sister Marcia (Delwyn) Showalter of Mount Ayr; nephews and niece Kyle Ford of Norwalk, Kirk Ford of Indianola, Kristyn Ford of Tingley, Daniel (Jessica) Showalter of Mount Ayr, and David (Taryn Fisher) Showalter of Ackley; cousins, other relatives and many good friends.

Open visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, November 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a funeral mass held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr with Reverend David Polich officiating.
