OBITUARY ~ LOLA LOUISE "LU" (WRIGHT) JOHNSTON

Lola Louise "Lu" (WRIGHT) JOHNSTON passed away May 22, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. A memorial graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa at a later date.

Lu was born January 22, 1919 in Caledonia, Iowa to Elba Clyde and Lola Blanche OPDYKE WRIGHT. She was the last surviving member of the family.

She graduated from Mount Ayr high school in 1936 and later married Richard Young JOHNSTON in 1938. They resided in Bedford, Iowa from 1947 until 1962. Lu was Taylor county deputy clerk of court during that time. The couple moved to Colorado Springs and after Dick's passing in 1989, Lu moved to Calhan, Colorado where she resided until 2006 and moved to Denver to be with their daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Lu JOHNSTON; one granddaughter, Tammi SAVICKI; great-grandchildren, Tanya STUCKER and Shanell COSTA, and great-great-grandchildren, Christian, Elijah, Jasmine, Athena and Glade.
