OBITUARY ~ MARGARET ELLEN (BARKER) BOMER BALLINGER

Margaret Ellen (BARKER) BALLINGER, 67, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on June 13, 2011 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born February 1, 1944 in Creston, Iowa to Weldon and Lois (VOGEL) BARKER. Margaret was raised in Mount Ayr, graduating from Mount Ayr Community high school in 1962. She attended Nebraska College of Business.

Margaret was united in marriage to Randall BOMER in January of 1966. Their marriage was blessed with children, Jeff, Jerry, Ron, Brenda and Diane.

In May of 1990, Margaret married Willis BALLINGER. The couple enjoyed riding horses and attending the Sidney Rodeo each year.

Margaret was a talented seamstress and enjoyed shopping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She had attended Calvary Baptist Church and assisted with vacation Bible school when she was still able.

Margaret was employed at the Glenwood Resource Center for 24 years until her health no longer permitted.

Preceding Margaret in death were her parents and granddaughter, Misty LYBARGER.

She is survived by her husband, Willis BALLINGER of Glenwood, Iowa; children, Jeff BOMER of Carpentersville, Illinois and Jerry and wife Terri BOMER, Ron and wife Tracy BOMER, Brenda and husband Bryan CRAWLEY and Diane and husband Chad COOKE, all of Glenwood, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred and wife Joann BARKER of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Marilyn and husband Dale EICHELBERGER of Robbins, Iowa; sister-in-law, Judy and husband Ed ANGLEN of Pacific Junction, Iowa, and extended relatives and many friends.

Services were conducted Friday, June 17, 2011, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Interment was held in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Glenwood Fire & Rescue.
