Hidlay, David -
David Hidlay was born August, 27th, 1837, in Columbus Co., Pennsylvania; departed this life Jan. 3, 1920, Clearfield, Iowa; aged 82 years 4 months, 7 days. He was married to Melissa Hamilton,Sept. 22. 1859. They moved to Carroll Co., Ill. in the spring of 1862, and in the spring of 1881, they moved to Ringgold Co., Iowa, where they have since resided. To this union seven children were born, two died in infancy; those remaining are Annis, wife of Joseph
Phillips, and Cora, wife of W. T. Morey, both of Hay Springs, Neb., John lrwin, Truman, and Jennie, wife of Geo. Bicknell, all of Canada.

Mr. Hidlay united with the Methodist Episcopal church in the winter of 1881, and has been a faithful member till the time of his death.
He leaves today his companion Mrs. Melissa Hidlay, five children, seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Clearfield Methodist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 7th; at 2 p. m., the pastor, Rev. Douglass, officiating.
The gathering of old friends and neighbors more than filled the auditorium testifying to the respect and esteem in which the departed was held by all who knew him. Interment followed in the Clearfield Cemetery.
