OBITUARY ~ CLYDE EDGAR BRAND
January 17, 1923 ~ June 10, 2011

Clyde BRAND, 88, of Mount Ayr, passed away June 10, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, June 14 at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. Rev. Skip RUSHING will officiate the service. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr. Visitation, with the family present, will be held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home 205 West Monroe St Mount Ayr on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later. Online condolences may be left at www.watsonarmstrongfh.com .

Clyde Edgar BRAND was born on January 17, 1923 in Madison Township, Clarke County, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on June 10, 2011 at the age of 88 years.

He was born the second child of eleven to Lewis Gerald and Madge Ramelle "CRITTENDEN" BRAND. He lived in Clarke and Union counties before moving to rural Mount Ayr in 1937. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1939.

Following graduation he farmed with his father and brothers. He married Ramona REYNOLDS on May 23, 1948. To this union four children were born; James Allen, David Eugene, Cynthia Ann, and Gary Dean.

He started BRAND Standard Service in March of 1952 and continued operating it until it closed October 18, 1990. Not one to be idle Clyde went to work for Dick GREEN, Kelly MAIN and SMITH Oil.

He enjoyed his family and visits from the grandchildren. He loved challenging them to cribbage matches, and looked forward to all the new puzzles they challenged him with at Christmas. He was an avid book reader and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his son, son-in-law and grandsons.

He was a charter member of the Dead Beat's Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Merle and Gladys REYNOLDS; brothers Harold and Dean, and sister Margaret; brothers-in-law Ainslee TRIGGS, Robert SCHAFER, Lyle GILLILAND, Walter COBB, Frank REYNOLDS, Burl REYNOLDS, Dick CAMPBELL; sisters-in-law Ginger GAULE, Jean ROBERTSON, and Deloris REYNOLDS.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ramona "REYNOLDS" BRAND, sons James (wife Ruth) of Mount Ayr, David (wife Ellen) of Audubon, Gary (wife Linda) of Indianola, and daughter Cynthia SNETHEN (husband Richard) of Redding; sisters Lois TRIGGS, Wilma SCHAFER, Jean GILLILAND and Betty COBB; brothers Earl, Lee (wife Shirley), Paul (wife Georgia); sisters and brothers-in-law Raymond GAULE, Edgar ROBERTSON (wife Dee), Ron REYNOLDS (wife Shari), Dorothy CAMPBELL, Roena and Junior DREDGE; grandchildren Kelly Jo BRAND, Karen (Ryan) MURPHY, Jennifer (Michael) YOUNTS, Shelli BRAND (friend Bob TESTROET), Scott (April) BRAND, Leigh Ann (Jim) FREEMAN, Travis (Julie) SNETHEN, Joe (Jess) SNETHEN, Edwin BRAND, Nathaniel BRAND, Andrew (Michelle) BRAND, Jason BRAND, Megan BRAND; step-grandchildren Melissa (Scott) BYLERLY, Jennifer and Cindy ULHMAN; great-grandchildren Sarah and Zachary ROBINSON, Nicholas NEWTON, Demi COLLINS, Gabrielle and Alexander YOUNTS, Alissa BRAND, Emma and Marie BRAND, Deva FREEMAN, Tanner and Jaynee SNETHEN, Rori, Vincent and Ellie SNETHEN, and another due in July; great-great-grandchild Brookelynn ROBINSON; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
