Davenport, Peter Logan -
Peter Logan, son of Nelson S and Mary Ann Baumann Davenport was born March 10, 1882 in Lincoln Twp., Ringgold County, la., and passed away Aug. 8, 1954 in Clearfield, la., at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hannah Hayes at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 28 days.

He attended school at Lincoln No. 2 and spent 66 years at the place of his birth. In 1948 he came to Clearfield where he has made his home with his sister.

He followed his chosen work farming as long as health permitted. He enjoyed reading and being of a jovial disposition, liked to visit with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Roy,John and Oscar Davenport and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Condra and Mrs. Eva Wolf.

Surviving besides the one sister, Mrs. Hannah Hayes, several nephews and nieces, other relatives and a number of friends.

The funeral services were held at 2 p. m., Aug. 10 at the J R Crew Funeral home in Clearfield. Rev Harold Ball of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was in the Rising Sun cemetery, northwest of Diagonal.

Casket bearers were A D Bauman, Howard Townsend, Harry Black, Harry Lininger, Fred Moore and L M Vanderpluym
