Bender, Perry Martin -
Perry Martin, son of Gottlieb and Fredericka Dreitzel Bender, was born in Grant Township, Ringgold County, la., Nov. 16, 1873 and entered into rest Aug. 13, 1954, aged 80 years, 8 months and 27 days.

He received his education, and grew to manhood near the place of his birth. He chose farming as his occupation, which he followed as long as his health permitted.

On April 12, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace L Van Winkle at the parental home neap Maloy, la They established their home 3 miles NW of Maloy where they have lived until the present time. To this union were born two daughters, Reva Morey who passed away July 18, 1951 and Mrs Maye. Matthews living NW of Clearfield.

Mr Bender was industrious in all of his activities and at all times interested in the affairs of the community. The welfare of his family and loved ones came before all others. He was both a devoted husband and loving father.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers: William,. Richard .and Thomas Bender, plus two sisters, Mrs Cora Wilson and Mrs Dora Arlo, two half brothers, Albert and John Gordon.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Grace, and daughter Mrs Maye Mathews, 5 grandchildren Kenneth and Carroll Mathews and Mrs Roberta Maye Cook, Mrs Phyllis Goodale and Mrs Adra Baily, 6 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Frank and Clyde Bender of Creston, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Services held from the United Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, Rev. W. A. Howes officiaiting. Burial in Clearfield cemetery.
