OBITUARY - CARL WOOLLUMS
August 4, 1929 ~ February 3, 2011

Carl graduated from Ellston High School in 1947. On March 17, 1952, he married Jessie WARD of Mount Ayr in Columbia, South Carolina where they made their home until his honorable discharge from the US Army. Carl was a parts man for BARKER Implement in Lenox, Iowa before moving to Mason City, Iowa in 1957 where he owned and operated WOOLLUMS Implement for 27 years. A farmer at heart, he farmed for several years. Carl served as President of I.R.F.P.E. Dealers, served as President of the Administrative Board of the U.M.C., past President of the Mason City Country Club, and was a member of the Elks Club.

His early retirement was spent traveling to all of the United States except Alaska. Carl and Jessie enjoyed 21 winters in Pharr, Texas where he liked playing golf until his health failed.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves three daughters; Diane (Dr. Joe) MASTERNICK of Rochester, Michigan, Cathy (Scott) WESTERMANN of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Suzy (Scott) BAAD of Dunedin, Florida; four granddaughters Martha, Sarah, and Jessica MASTERNICK and Leah (Kyle) RODGERS; two step-grandsons Brandon & Ben BAAD; sister Reba SCHMIDT of Williamsburg, IA; brother Perry (Sally) WOOLLUMS of Kellerton, IA; sisters-in-law Helen WOOLLUMS of Des Moines, IA, Roxie TRULLINGER and Cathy WARD of Mount Ayr, IA, Ruth WARD of Ankeny, IA and Bonnie WARD of Essex, IA; brother-in-law Jim (Joyce) WARD of Maryville, MO; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond WOOLLUMS.

A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Saturday, February 5, 2011, at United Methodist Church, Mount Ayr. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
