OBITUARY - ALICE MARGUERITE (ELLIOTT) TERWILLIGER
Alice Marguerite TERWILLIGER, daughter of A. W. ELLIOTT and Emma RUSH ELLIOTT, was born November 7, 1984 (sic), in Ringgold County and departed this life on June 7, 1984, in a tragic accident with a huge tree falling on her car in the midst of a severe storm that hit Mount Ayr and the surrounding area.
Alice lived her entire life in Ringgold County and Mount Ayr.
On the 19th of January 1928 she was united in marriage to Dennis D. TERWILLIGER and to this union of marriage were born two children - Joan and Sue.
Alice was employed for over 30 years with the Ringgold Mutual Telephone Company, which later became Contel, serving as a telephone operator, dispatcher and in the billing department.
Alice believed in the divine power of God and prayer and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr, enjoyed her various church activities she took part in, especially her Sunday School Class, which was taught by Ruth ANGUS. Alice belonged to several clubs; Modern Mothers, Evening Lieterature, plus severl others which she was active in.
In January of 1978, Alice and her husband Dennis enjoyed the privilege of celebrating 50 years of marriage together, sharing this happy occasion with her family and countless friends.
Alice had a very close relationship with her family, and was very proud of her grandchildren, Larry, Chris and Karen RUCKMAN and Jerry NOBLE; the past few years traveling many miles to watch her granddaughter Karen perform as a vocalist ans as a marimba player, and to watch her grandson Jerry with his drum playing.
Alice was very thankful for all close friends, and enjoyed times when friends and family would gather together, many of the friendships going back over 50 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Gladys KEENAN; two brothers, Mark and Reese ELLIOTT; and her faithful husband, Dennis of over 50 years.
Left to mourn are her two daughters, Joan and Sue, son-in-law Rollin NOBLE of Mount Ayr, son-in-law, Richard RUCKMAN of Centerville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jerry NOBLE, Larry and his wife, Peggy, Chris and Karen RUCKMAN of Centerville; three great-grandchildren, Paul, Angela and Becky, also of Centerville, Iowa; two sisters, Flossie SACKETT of Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr and Hazel MOORE of Creston, Iowa, plus many nieces, newphew (sic), cousins, and a multitude of friends.

Services were held at Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on Sunday, June 10, 1984. Officiating was Rev. Paul CARTER. Music was by Mrs.Keith SACKETT and Mrs. Francis WILLIS.
Casket bearers were Lee KEENAN, Fred SIVERLY, Hugh TERWILLIGER, Jack ELLIOTT, Mark ERICKSON and Robet ERICKSON. Honorary pallbearers were Ames CROSS, Walter STUCK, Clyde BRAND and Burl SACKETT. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
