OBITUARY - MARJORIE KATHLEEN "KATIE" (BOWEN) BUTLER

Marjorie Kathleen "Katie" BUTLER, daughter of James and Ruby BOWEN, was born February 18, 1930, in Maloy, Iowa, and departed this life December 11, 1977, at the Ringgold County Hospital at the age of 47 year, nine months and 28 days.

Katie graduated from the Benton High School in 1948. On January 14, 1949, she was married to Hollis BUTLER of Benton. Hollis and Katie became the parents of two sons and three daughters.

Katie was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church in Benton. She was a great friend to all people who knew her. The devoted love she gave to her family and fiends will always be remembered. Even in times of her very poor health, Katie always had a smile and words of encouragement for those who came to see her.

Katie is survived by her husband, Hollis; two sons -- Hal of Lawton, Okla. and Stanley of Okmulgee, Okla.; three daughters -- Joyce, Jean and Holly; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hal (Joyce) BUTLER; a granddaughter, Andrea; six sisters -- Mrs. Richard (Sally) PRATTE of St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Tim (Alice) JOHNSTON of Fort Madison, Mrs. Richard (Mickey) ROUTH of Clearfield, Mrs. Jim (Jean) HERRINGTON of Marion, Mrs. Don (Belle) GRAHAM of Diagonal and Mrs. Frank (Kay) HULETT of Osage Beach, Mo.; three brothers -- Joe of Ft. Madison, Larry of Delphos, and Jerry of Benton; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Levantia BUTLER; a brother, James, and a sister, Mrs. Ann HALEY.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1977, from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Ward CAMPBELL and Rev. Charles KAUFFMAN officiating. Casketbearers were Joe ROUTH, Arnie BOWEN, Tony BUTLER, Mike ROUTH, Steve GRAHAM and Teddy JOHNSTON. Music was provided by Mrs. Robert FISHER and Joan FISHER, accompanied by Mrs. Robert THOMAS. Interment was in Benton Cemetery.
