OBITUARY - JOHN WILLIAM BUSBY

John William BUSBY, the eldest child of Cecil and Almeda BUSY, was born Oct. 20, 1913 near Diagonal, Iowa. John attended Bethel country school and Diagonal high school, graduating with the classs of 1932. He attended college at Ames [present-day Iowa State University] where he learned the art of making butter and ice cream.

In June of 1934 he was married to Louise Mary Margaret ENGLAND. They resided in Diagonal, working in Pine's Dairy. In 1935 they welcomed a daughter, Christine Louise. Shortly after Christine was born, they moved to Casper, Wyo., where he worked in the creamery. In 1937 they moved back to Creston where he worked for Armour Company. While living in Creston, a new addition was added to the family, a son, John Claire. John left the dairy business and moved his family to a farm near Mount Ayr, the next year on to Diagonal. It was on this farm that John was severely injured when a young team of horses ran away with him. In December of 1940, they moved south of Clearfield. In December, 1944, a second daughter [Patricia] was welcomed into the family.

John and Louise purchased the Ned LYDDON farm in 1947. In October, 1948, the BUSBY family was happy to announce the arrival of a second son, Larry Dean. John was successful in his farming career, he was a hard worker, and managed his business well. He strived to provide the best for his family. As a result of injuries he suffered earlier in life he was forced to give up farming. In March, 1960, he built a new home for his family in Clearfield. He was an accomplished carpenter, making his living in this manner until retirement. In May, 1963, he moved his family to Ft. Collins, Colo. In 1966 they returned to Clearfield. With the help of his family he built their present home, moving into it in 1971.

John was a member of the Methodist Church and the Lions Club. He was especially proud of his family. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Larry MORRIS.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Christine and husband, Dale SOLOMON of Evanston, Wyo.; his son, John C. and wife, Sue, of Bothell, Wash.; his daughter, Patricia MORRIS of Latimer, Iowa; his son, Larry and wife, Kim, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph of Greeley, Colo.; sisters, Ruth HUDSON, Waterloo, Iowa and Bette SHAFFER, Longmount, Colo.
