OBITUARY - BERT T. BUTTERFIELD

Bert T. BUTTERFIELD, son of Charles and Rebecca (BIRD) BUTTERFIELD, was born on Sept. 14, 1895 near Diagonal, Iowa, Ringgold County, and passed away on Feb. 14, 1988 at the Clearview Home in Clearfield (sic), Iowa.

On Feb. 23, 1919, he was united in marriage to Cecile Eva McDOWELL of Tingley, Iowa. She preceded him in death in August of 1937. To this union three children were born: Nina ANUNSON of Mesa, Arizon, Dale of Tucson, Arizona, and Donna Lee of Fullerton, California. He leaves his children to mourn his death, along with eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. He was dearly loved by all.

His parents and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

On Aug. 7, 1943 Bert was married to Christine PEPPMEIER. They spent part of their married life in Michigan, the rest in Clearfield and surrounding area. Christine passed away March 12, 1985 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

OUR FATHER
Our Father was a quiet man
Beloved by one and all.
Everyone who knew our Dad
Fond memories can recall.
He lived a very humble life,
content with what he had.
We ever knew him to complain,
this man who was our Dad.
Never had an enemy, never lost a friend.
Loved by all who knew him,
till the very end.
He taught us right from infant on
And in his gentle way
He really drove the lesson home,
by living it each day.
He gave us many gifts in live,
that money cannot buy.
The gifts of honesty and truth
we treasure very high.
He taught us to be thankful
for whatever things we had.
But most of all we're thankful
that we had him for our Dad.

Funeral services were held February 16, 1988, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Clearfield, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Shirley LOCKARD. Music was provided by Mrs. John PARRISH and Mrs. Paul WHITMORE.

Casketbearers were Darl BELL, Joe ROUTH, Cecil MONK, Olin MASON, Earl PEPPMEIER and Jerry FLETCHALL. Burial was in the Tingley Cemetery at Tingley, Iowa.
