OBITUARY - H. A. BURCH

H. A. BURCH, 93, died Sept. 12, 1989 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was born Jan. 26, 1896 in Worth County, MO, the son of H. C. BURCH and Eleanor NORWOOD BURCH.

He married Sylvia Marie YAW April 24, 1918 in Diagonal, IA. She survives. Surviving children include: one son, Garnet L. BURCH and his wife Frances of Davenport, IA; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-granchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and three brothers.

BURCH was a longtime resident of Ringgold and Union counities. He lived in Diagonal from 1928 to 1931; then in Maloy and Benton before moving to Union County in 1936. He entered the Veterans Home in late 1983.

He was a farmer and blacksmith before he retired in 1979.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church; a life member of Theodore J. MARTIN Post #179 VFW in Clreston and Amrican Legion Post #405 at Murray and was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Army 351st Infantry in Noyen Sarthe, France. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Creston Post.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15, 1989 at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Creston. This was conducted by Rev. Lynn WILLIAMS. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. A memorial was established for the Presbyterian Church.
