OBITUARY - FRANCIS A. "FRANK" BURLEY

Francis A. BURLEY, son of Andrew and O'ttilla BEAR BURLEY, was born on October 11, 1897 at Sheldon, Iowa, and entered into the joys of Resurrection on September 2, 1980 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was united in marriage with Cora Marie WALTERS on October 1, 1921 at Grand Forks, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one infant son; and two brothers.

He is survived by Sister Mary Ethel of Mount Sait Scholastica Convent, Atchison, Kansas; Maxine BEAR and son-in-law, Forest of St. Paul, Minnesota; Mary PEDERSEN and son-in-law, Gerald, of Osceola, Iowa; Jo MITCHELL and son-in-law, James, of Leawood, Kansas; Arthur "Bud" and daughter-in-law, Bernadine BURLEY, of Omaha, Nebraska; Richard and daughter-in-law, MBetty BURLEY, of Maywood, California; step-daughter, Elma GERMAN and husband, Paul, of Osceola, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Agenes FAIST of Portland, Oregon; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was an active member of St. Patrick's Church, Grand River. He served God in his love of His creation, his family, friends, and in tilling the soil for forty-six years. Frank farmed near Beaconsfield, Iowa.

The Mass of Resurrection was Celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand River at 10:00 a.m. on September 5, 1908. Officiating were the Reverends Frank CHIOCO, Don DALEKE and James KIERNAN. Rosary Service was held at the Slade Funeral Home, Leon, Thursday, September 4, 1980. Burial was in the Ellston Cemetery, Ellston.
