IN MEMORIAM - DOROTHY MARJORIE (STAFFORD) BUCK

Dorothy Marjorie STAFFORD was born October 1, 1903 near Lamoni in Decatur County, Iowa, to Alvin and Mary JOHNSON STAFFORD. She passed away March 8, 1989 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 85 years and five months.

On November 4, 1923, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Robert BUCK in Kansas City, Missouri. They shared 49 years together on the same farm in Rice Township. The couple were the parents of five children: Richard Raymond, Roland Alvin, Barbara Ann, Donald Eugene, and Merritt Dean.

Dorothy enjoyed her many years of volunteer work at the Mount Ayr Congregate mealsite and the many friends she acquired there. She joined the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Ayr on Mother's Day of 1981. Prior to that, she had been a member of the RLDS Church in Lamoni.

The BUCK name is part-and-parcel of the Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr. Raymond's grandfather, W. J. BUCK, was on eof the founders of the church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; granddaughter Mary Lee BUCK; a daughter-in-law, Mildred BUCK, and seven brotherrs and sisters.

She is survived by four sons and their wives: Richard and Phyillis BUCK of Creston, Roland and Jane BUCK of Mount Ayr, Donald and Sandy BUCK of Denver, Iowa, and Merritt and Wilma BUCK of Marrietta, Georgia; and one daughter and her husband, Barbara and Willard BENTLEY of Diagonal. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida HUNT of King City, Missouri, and two brothers, Gerald STAFFORD of Seymour, Iowa and Marvin STAFFORD of Rockford, Illinois.

Funeral services were held March 11, 1989, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Doris HANSON. Music was provided by Mike GREENE and Mrs. Dave BUCK.

Casketbearers were Bob BUCK, Dave BUCK, Gary BUCK, Jim BENTLEY, Mark BUCK, Mike BUCK, Mitchell BUCK and Billy BENTLEY.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
