May, 1982OBITUARY - RAYMOND LEROY BROOKS
Raymond Leroy, son of Perry and Ada WEBB BROOKS, was born Aug. 23, 1921 at Kellerton, Iowa, and departed this life April 29, 1982, at the age of 60 years, eight months and six days.
His life was lived in kellerton and surrounding vacinities. He owned his own businesses. The Farm Supply store in Kellerton was his place of business for the last 20 years, and he was at work there when his earthly life was finished.
He was united in marriage with LaVeta FUGATE Aug. 28, 1941. Three children came to bless this home, Sharon LaRae, Dennis LeRoy and Taresa Ann. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army four years, serving in Germany and Alaska.
He confessed his faith and was baptized in Christ and united with the Kellerton Christian Church Nov. 6, 1949. He was a member of th eorder of masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, and served in other capacities in the community, where he was a respected business man and friend to all who came to know him.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents; three sisters and two brothers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, LaVeta; son, Dennis and wife Linda of Kellerton; daughter, Taresa AVERY nd husband, Kenneth of Creston; three grandchildren, who he loved with prind and joy, Chad and Sean BROOKS and Tabitha Ann AVERY; one brother, Eugene and wife, Dorothy of Johnston, Iowa; one sister, Ruth GUIER and husband, John of Goodlettesville, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rev. Merlin WILKINS conducted a funeral service held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 1982 at Wilson-Watson Funeral home in Mount Ayr. Organist was Mrs. Weldon MEADOWS and vocalists, Mr. and Mrs. Richard JACKSON.
Casketbearers were Bill HYNEK, Ivan RAINEY, Barry JACKSON, Francis VIRDEN, LeRoy TRIMBLE and Kenneth MICHAEL.
Burial was in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton. Military graveside rites were conducted by American Legan Post No. 676.
