OBITUARY - IVA AGNES (SMITH) BARNHILL

Iva A. BARNHILL was born May 15, 1897 in Decatur County, Iowa, to Samuel George and Della Jane (LUCAS) SMITH, and departed this life at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on April 16, 1989.

On May 24, 1922, Iva was united in marriage to Clay David BARNHILL, who preceded her in death.

Iva came to live with her brother, Hayden SMITH, when he lost his wife. She helped raise his three children, Donna I. GREIMANN (SMITH), Bettie J. PRUDDEN (SMITH), both of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Stanley Eugene SMITH, who is deceased.

Most of Iva's life was spent around the Mount Ayr community.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters and her parents.

Iva is survived by one sister, Lelia Fern LOWE and her family of Bellflower, California, also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 10, 1989, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Vernon SPINNER and John LATHROP. Music was provided by Mary WEEDA and Ruth TOPINKA.

Casketbearers were Rich ROUTH, Sam PURDDEN, Curt STAMPS, Jim VLIEGER, Johnny GARITY and Quinten BEEMER.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
