OBITUARY

Mrs. Bernice (NEIDIGH) GRIMES was born at Old Eugene on the 20th day of September, 1878, and departed this life to her Heavenly reward at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on the third day of March, 1938, aged 59 years, 5 months, and 19 days.

Her entire life was spent in the vicinity of her birthplace. Very early she showed her inherited aptitude for music and by unceasing efforts became an accomplished pianist. Several years of her early life were spent in teaching music to the various students who came to her for training.

In her early girlhood she expressed her desire to lead a Christian life and was baptized in the United Presbyterian Church, to which she remained a faithful member throughout the remainder of her life.

On the 14th day of April, 1909 she was united in marriage to Charles W. GRIMES and to this blessed union four sons, William, Charles Jr., Lester, and Robert were privileged to be born and grow to manhood under the patience and care that only a perfect mother can give.

Her idea of a perfect life was to devote herself and her time unflinchingly to the man she had chosen for a life partner and to the bringing up of her family of boys. In leading this ideal life she placed herself and her comforts last. The success of any member of her family gave her the greatest of joy while the failure of any affected her first and the deepest.

Whatever became her lot along the rough pathways of life, she turned to her Savior with a light heart, full of thanksgiving.

When the end came she was ready to face her Redeemer, and when her time had come, she slipped peacefully from this life, to the life which comes only to those that make it for themselves.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and four boys; one brother, Harrison, of Grand Junction; Mrs. Mae DUNLAP of Shannon City; and Miss Sylvia NEIDIGH of Shannon City.

Her father, mother, and one sister, Elizabeth, preceded her in death.

[Interment was at Oakland Cemetery south of Shannon City, Iowa.]
