OBITUARY.

Died -- John SAVILLE, at his residence in Mt. Ayr, on Sunday June 22, 1884, aged 76 years.

Mr. SAVILLE was born in Rockbridge county, Va. Nov. 12, 1809. He grew to manhood in that county and was married near Natural Bridge, April 4, 1832, and remained in that locality for over 24 years. In the fall of 1856, they moved to Knox county, near Knoxville, Tenn. Here they remained until the fall of 1863, when, procuring a pass from the commander of the Federal troops in that place, they started for Ohio, arriving there the same fall. They located near Xenia, in Green county where they remained till the fall of 1868, then started for Southwestern Iowa, arriving at Mt. Ayr, October 15, 1868, where they have since resided. While yet in Rockbridge county, Va, nine children were born to them - of whom three are now living in this county, viz: J. A. SAVILLE, Joseph H. SAVILLE, and Mrs. N. CONNER. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for 36 years, and was a kindly old gentleman, whom everyone liked. We never knew of his having an enemy. The sympathy of hosts of friends is extended the bereaved wife, who is so stricken in her old age. We shall all miss him, but he had passed his three-score and ten, and the Master said "Come up higher". Requiescat in peace.

NOTE: John was a blacksmith. He married Sarah P. (?) who was born in 1808, and died February 14, 1888 at Mount Ayr. They were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Of John and Sarah P. SAVILLE's Children: Jacob Abraham SAVILLE was born January 17, 1841 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and died January 26, 1921. He married Mary Emma HENDERSON October 18, 186, Morgan County, Illinois. Mary Emma (HENDERSON) SAVILLE was born May 27, 1846, and died August 2, 1935. They were interred at Redding Cemetery, Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa.
