JOHN G. SAVILLE
John G. SAVILLE was born April 28, 1935 in Mount Ayr, IA to Alden & Mary SAVILLE. He was the oldest of 8 children. John departed this life on November 17, 2007 at his home in Des Moines.
The years of his childhood were spent in and around Redding, IA. His mother later remarried Howard THOMPSON and moved to Grant City, MO where he graduated. He joined the U.S. Army right after high school and served during the Korean conflict. He returned to Mount Ayr and later married June BOLINGER on August 16, 1963. They celebrated their 44th anniversary in 2007.
John was in the civil service and the Army Reserve in Des Moines. He retired on December 31, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-father; 3 brothers Donald, Roger, and Jerry; and a step-son Terry BOLINGER.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife June of Des Moines, IA; 2 daughters Debbie CHAMBERS of Fort Mills, SC and Tammy DOWNING of Grant City, MO; step-daughter Joy SAVILLE of Des Moines, IA; 3 brothers Daryl SAVILLE of Grant City, MO, Carl SAVILLE of Des Moines, IA, and Jack THOMPSON of Holt, MO; sister Debbie ROACH of Grant City, MO; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 grea-great-granddaughter to join the family in March of 2008; other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
