OBITUARY.

Died, Sunday, September 6th, 1891, Nicholas SALTZMAN, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. EGLEY, in Poe township, after some days sickness. Mr. SALTZMAN was born in France in 1802. He was aged 89 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was a member of the Omish church, having united with it at the early age of fourteen. In this church he lived a sincere and faithful servant of his Master until death. He became a minister of his church at an early age and continued this work until health and strength failed him. At the age of 31 he was married to Miss Barbara GARBER, who died many years since. Thirteen children were born to them. Seven of these have gone before him and six remain to mourn his and their loss. He was a faithful servant, a loving husband and an affectionate father. His old age was pleasant and cheeful and his departure is a sore bereavement to the remaining ones. In 1852 he moved with his family to Finlay, Ohio, and lived there fourteen (sic) years. In 1856 he removed to Ringgold county, Iowa. Since the death of his wife he has lived with his children, and at the time of his death was with his daughter, Mrs. Catherine EGLY. The funeral took place September 7th, at 2 p. m., Rev. Mr. MILLER officiating. A large procession respectfully followed his remains to their last resting place [Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman) cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa].
