OBITUARY - GRACE (BUTT) SACKETT

Grace SACKETT, 91, of Mount Ayr, died August 14, 2004, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan THOMAS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There is open visitation 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials will be established in her name.

Mrs. SACKETT, daughter of Nancy Elizabeth (SIMPSON) and Sidney Elmer BUTT, was born May 23, 1913, in Jefferson Township, Ringgold County. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1932. On February 28, 1936, she married Burl E. SACKETT in Mount Ayr. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.

Survivors include six children, Elton (wife Emmy) SACKETT of Ravenwood, Mo., Barbara (husband Bob) ALLEN of Cedar Rapids, Betty (husband Mike) HALFHILL of Des Moines, Keith (wife Nancy) SACKETT and Donna (husband Dennis) STEPHENS, all of Mount Ayr, and Andy SACKETT of Waverly; 18 grandchildren, Paul SACKETT, Melia SACKETT, Kerri RUBENBAUER, Kelley ROSELAND, Mike ALLEN, Doug ALLEN, Scott DENHART, Rachel DENHART, Andrea VOSEN, Jill SACKETT, Julie DAVIDSON, Tom SACKETT, Jennifer BURN, Tim STEPHENS, Debbie STEPHENS, Aaron SACKETT and Shaina SACKETT; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Esther BUTT; an infant grandson, Andrew SACKETT; a daughter-in-law, Lyndall SACKETT, and a brother-in-law, Lyle SACKETT.
