OBITUARY - DORIS M. (CARSON) FREDRICKSEN

Doris Marie FREDRICKSEN, 88, of Creston, died December 2, 2005, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Services were 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston. The Rev. Eydie STEPHENS and the Rev. Mark WOLDRUFF officiated the service. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. FREDRICKSEN, daughter of Jessie Caroline (DOWNING) and Otis Howard CARSON, was born October 20, 1917, in Knowlton. She graduated from Creston High School in 1934 and earned her teaching certificate in Council Bluffs from Peru College based in Peru, Neb. She taught in Ringgold County country schools.

On September 14, 1940, she married Robert Roy FREDRICKSEN in Grant City, Mo. They lived on a farm in Ringgold County and later moved to the Creston area in 1948. She was a homemaker and worked as a credit reporter for 30 years at Community Credit Service in Creston. She retired in 1990.

She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston, where she had been active in the Rebecca Circle, served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Education Committee. She also served as president of Church Women United and was a member of the Happy Hour Card Club.

Survivors include a son, Andy (wife Chris) FREDRICKSEN of Creston; daughter Sue THOMPSON (special friend Patrick REED) of Omaha, Neb.; foster daughter Sandy (husband Phil) ROOT of Longmont, Colo., sister Jessie IBBOTSON of Creston; two sisters-in-law, Ethel CARSON of Creston and Vera CARSON of Redding; four grandchildren, Erik (wife Heather) Fredricksen, Emily (husband Dick) COOK, Ryan THOMPSON (special friend Jenni FISH) and Brian ROOT; and great-grandson Jakob FREDRICKSEN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband April 22, 1984; two brothers, John and Otis CARSON; and son-in-law Stephen D. THOMPSON.
