OBITUARY - RETTA BERNEICE (GARLAND) FERGUSON

Retta Berneice FERGUSON, 82, of Tingley, Iowa, passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure with her granddaughter, Sarah and son, Richard by her side on October 9, 2005 at Olathe Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the Presbyterian Church in Tingley, Iowa. A memorial has been established in her name.

Retta was born May 1, 1923 in Ringgold County, Iowa to Oscar and Arby GARLAND. She attended school in Tingley where she was recognized for her beautiful singing voice. Retta married Ira FERGUSON, the love of her life, on September 11, 1941. She was a devoted wife to Ira and loving mother to her three boys, Danny, Richard and Gregory. Retta was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Tingley and was a committed servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Retta is survived by her children, Danny (Mary) of Des Moines, Iowa, Richard of Maryville, MO, and Greg (Rhonda) of Olathe; grandchildren, Danee, Darin, Scott, Clint, Nick, Sarah, Andrea and Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Iola PRITCHARD; and two brothers Dick (Doris) GARLAND and Dean (Lucy) GARLAND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.

OBITUARY - RETTA BERNIECE (GARLAND) FERGUSON

Retta Berneice FERGUSON, 82, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Tingley, died October 9, 2005, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 13, at Tingley United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Eydie STEPHENS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Tingley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. A memorial has been established in her name. Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr, has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. FERGUSON, daughter of Arby (STANLEY) and Oscar GARLAND, was born May 1, 1923, in Ringgold County. On September 11, 1941, she married Ira E. FERGUSON in Parnell, Mo. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Danny (wife Mary) FERGUSON of Des Moines, Richard FERGUSON of Maryville, Mo., and Greg (wife Rhonda) FERGUSON of Olathe, Kan.; sister Iola PRITCHARD of Tingley; two brothers, Dick (wife Doris) GARLAND and Dean (wife Lucy) GARLAND, all of Des Moines; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.
