OBITUARY - ROY F. COVERDELL

September 4, 1916 - August 5, 2004

Roy F. COVERDELL of Pueblo, formerly of Boulder, died of natural causes Thursday, August 5, 2004, in Pueblo. He was 87.

He was born September 4, 1916, in Tingley, Iowa, to Sam Coverdell and Mabel (GOFF) COVERDELL. He married Frances ADKINS in 1936 in Las Animas. They divorced. He married Nancy (HORRY) BURDICK in June 1970 in Las Animas.

Mr. Coverdell served in the Army in 1945-46, was a rancher and farmer from 1946 to 1970, and later worked for Longmont Foods and Celestial Seasonings.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 10. He enjoyed horses, farming and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Jerry COVERDELL; four stepsons, Harold BURDICK of Boulder, Larry BURDICK of Boulder, Ray BURDICK of Centennial and Lauren BURDICK of St. George, Utah; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and former wife; a sister, Veva LUTZ; and a brother, Sloan COVERDELL.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th St., Boulder, with Chaplain Wes BROWN officiating.
