The Ringgold Record, 1873

BURNED TO DEATH.

- On the evening of the 31st inst. Frank, son of L. WORTHINGTON, three years (sic) of age. While his mother was milking; his father being in Mt. Ayr. He was trying to get the stove hook out of the stove hearth with his apron, when his clothes caught fire and burned nearly off before his mother could get to him, she being about fifteen rods from the house. He met her outside and she succeeded in smothering the flames; but not soon enough; he lived only a few hours.

NOTE: Frank H. WORTHINGTON was born in April of 1864, and died at the age of nine years, six months and twenty-six days on November 1, 1873 with interment at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Frank's father L. D. WORTHINGTON was born October 23, 1844, and died April 26, 1929. His mother Marion E. (?) WORTHINGTON was born July 18, 1846, and died May 9, 1921. They were interred at Platte River Cemetery.
