OBITUARY - MARVIN WOOLLUMS

Marvin WOOLLUMS, 71, of Mount Ayr died June 19, 2004, at Ringgold County Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. John BRILLO will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Open visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St. Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hawkeye Horseshoe Pitching Association.

Mr. WOOLLUMS, son of Zelma (ROBERTS) and Clair WOOLLUMS, was born May 3, 1933, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1951. On November 1, 1953, he married Freida P. MOLER in Mount Ayr. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. He worked for Iowa Southern Utilities in Mount Ayr 39 years. He was current state champion horseshoe pitcher and three-time past champion. He was inducted into the Iowa Hawkeye Horseshoe Pitching Association Hall of Fame in October 2003.

Survivors include his mother Zelma WOOLLUMS of Mount Ayr; two sons, David WOLLUMS of Mount Ayr and Brian WOOLLUMS of West Des Moines; a daughter, Marla (husband David) HANDY of St. Mary; a brother, Arvid WOOLLUMS of Diagonal; a sister, Cheryl HAINLINE of Van West; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and companion Vesta SHAHA of Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife on June 5, 1992 and brother-in-law Terry HAINLINE.
